With our busy schedules, it can be difficult to find time to take care of our personal health and wellness. But if you put in the time, you’ll find that exercise can keep you and your family healthy and happy.
Research shows that exercise can help people stay healthy, lose weight, improve circulation, strengthen muscles, improve posture, and have a more positive outlook on life. What child, spouse or partner does not want a happy, content and healthy mother, father or spouse? Making time for exercise is easy when you know it’s important to your family.
Exercise Tips for Busy Parents
Exercise when you want: Finding time to hit the gym can be one of the challenges working parents face. Plan your day to include exercise in your routine. When traveling, consider parking away from your destination. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Walk during your lunch break or before starting your daily routine. Even adding ten minutes can make a difference.
Combine work with exercise: walk or cycle to work. Practice picking up toys or clothes from the floor. Play music and dance while sweeping or mopping. Do chores – gardening, shoveling, sweeping the road, etc.

Join the game: Great ways to bond with your kids are riding bikes, playing sports, playing basketball, having a dance party, or participating in a play program at home.

Don’t beat yourself up if you’ve had a bad day or haven’t exercised. Instead, think about the progress you’ve made and how you can get back on track.

As a working mom, staying fit can be difficult, but with the right preparation and effort, it’s not impossible. Make fitness a priority, find a workout that works within your limits, collaborate with friends, plan meals and snacks, and be patient and kind as you work toward your goals. These steps will help you maintain a healthy and active lifestyle while meeting the demands of your professional and personal life. There’s nothing selfish about being healthy, but even if it’s not possible, you can improve your personal health by creatively analyzing your lifestyle and incorporating exercise into your daily routine.
