A new study found a link to the novel between lipids and a disease that affects children’s metabolism. Researchers from King’s College London said it would help provide an early warning for many conditions such as type 2 diabetes and liver disease.
The study has been published in Nature Medicine. Scientists have developed a blood test that uses lipids to identify children more susceptible to obesity -related problems, such as type 2 diabetes, liver disease and heart disease. Researchers said that blood plasma test machines used in hospitals will help medical professionals identify early indicators of illness in children faster and facilitate increasing they access to the appropriate treatment.
The findings say that the common idea is that cholesterol is a leading cause of complications related to obesity in children. They recognize new lipid molecules that contribute to health risks such as blood pressure but are not just linked to a child’s weight. According to the current evidence, using a chemistry method -associated called mass spectrometry, estimated thousands of different lipids present in the body, each with a separate extent atar.
For study, researchers took a control sample of 1,300 children with obesity and examined their blood lipids. Then, 200 of them were placed on the Holbaek model for a year which was a living intervention popular in Denmark for obesity. Researchers found that in the intervention group, the number of lipids tied to the risk of diabetes, insulin resistance, and lowering blood pressure despite limited improvements in some BMI children .
Dr Cristina Legido-Quigley, a drug leader in King’s Drugs at King’s College London, head of Systems Medicine at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen (SDCC) and author, said, “within the decades, scientists rely on a classification system for lipids that divide them into good and bad cholesterol, but now with a simple test in Blood We can evaluate a wider set of lipid molecules that can serve as an important warning signs for the disease.
