Gurgaon recorded 17 dengue cases in 6 weeks, with 5 districts emerging as hotspots.

Guruchi: 17 dengue cases have been reported in the city since the first dengue case of the year was reported on June 6. Health Ministry officials said the city is experiencing very humid weather and the number of dengue cases may increase in the coming days. Dozens of patients showing symptoms of viral fever are suspected to have contracted the virus, officials said.   Of the 17 registered cases, 10 did not require hospitalization.

Dr Birendra Yadav said, “We are conducting house-to-house fever surveys. People should be alert and check cupboards, vases and water fountains. Wearing long-sleeved clothes and using mosquito repellants are advised.”Medical Officer.  

Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, and a common measles rash.

“We will continue to geographically identify active cases and use geographic information systems to identify contact points,” Yadav said.

Experts say the hot and humid climate that is conducive to the breeding of the Aedes mosquito, which spreads the dengue virus, will never end.   Residents experiencing flu-like symptoms should consult a doctor and take other precautions, such as not dressing and self-medicating, but using mosquito repellent.  

Last year, 276 dengue cases and one death occurred in the city. This year, 440 dengue cases were reported in 2022 and 327 dengue cases and 1 death in 2021.In 2015, 451 people contracted the virus, making it the city’s deadliest year. There were 86 cases in 2016, 66 in 2017 and 93 in 2018.  There were 22 cases in 2019 and 51 in 2020.

Doctors say seek medical help immediately if you experience any symptoms.

Dr. Ashutosh Shukla, Senior Director (Internal Medicine) and Medical Consultant, Max Hospital said, “In recent days, dengue and other infectious diseases have caused shortness of breath, cough, sneezing, fever and/or influenza.
