In Nashik city, 30 new cases of dengue fever reached 500

Nashik: The number of dengue cases in the city is over 500 and 30 new cases have been registered in the last week alone.   In the first three weeks of July, 231 vector-borne diseases were detected in the city.

Nashik Municipal Corporation officials said that between July 1 and 21, blood samples of 1,142 suspects were sent for testing, of which 231 were found positive for dengue.   “Since January 1, blood samples of 2,200 suspects have been sent for testing and 500 have been confirmed to be infected with the mosquito-borne disease,” the civil official said.  

Last week, state environment minister Dada Fios criticized the civic authorities for failing to control the rising dengue cases in the city limits.The minister directed the National Medical Council to increase vigilance to avoid further problems.

According to civic officials, 170 health professionals and researchers have been deployed to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sites in the city.

“Also, we will impose a fine of Rs 200 on those responsible for mosquito breeding sites. So far, we have identified such sites at most construction sites,” NMC said.

The official announced that instructions to clean and prevent mosquito breeding sites at construction sites have been sent to all construction companies.
