Today, the fitness industry is in the forefront sensitizing and helping people reach optimal health though weight loss and eating healthily. Despite this sensitization, obesity issues are on the increase. In addition, human kind is faced with so many obesity related health complications than never before. Furthermore, the World Health Organization (WHO) reports that Heart diseases and diabetes are also on the increase worldwide.

We all desire to live a healthy lifestyle, happy and full of joy. However, this is not the case. I should tell you that a weight loss journey is not a walk in the park. Am not saying that you cannot achieve success. Many have and are still achieving their weight loss goals every day, all you need to do is be determined, set achievable goals and follow your fitness plan.

With your determination, a well-focused mental picture of the future you want, as well as laying down well articulated and achievable goals will guarantee you success. Above all, you will need to have the right motivation to help push you back on track every time you sway off the road, which I can tell you will happen occasionally.

You need to understand that no one is perfect, therefore, getting off track is a normal thing. So, do not feel guilty every time you mess up. Just pick the pieces and off you go! Understanding this earlier will help determine your success as well. After all life is filled up with ups and downs!

Here are the common challenges you are likely to encounter in your weight loss journey and how best you can pull through them and achieve success.

  1. SHAME

The negative impact of a shameful feeling towards your weight loss journey can have devastating effects on you losing weight. Sometimes you may not even be able to realize that shame is the root cause of many struggles in your life, including weight loss.

Furthermore, shame can also contribute to you developing a low self-esteem, guilty, as well as depression. This will further hinder you from participating in health related activities, eating healthily or live healthily.

What do you do? Know that you are responsible for your well-being. Despite how you feel and look. Focusing on the many benefits of weight loss may help you refocus and help you reshape your lifestyle again.

  1. SETTING UNREALISTIC DEADLINES AND GOALS

How you set your goals in whatever area of your life will determine how effectively you will achieve that goal. Setting unrealistic goals in your fitness is a one sure way of setting yourself up for failure.

For example, pick a reasonable amount of weight you may want to reduce over a reasonable time. E.g., shed off 0.5 kg every 2 weeks is a reasonable figure you may want to aim for depending on how you plan the whole fitness process. In addition, realistic goals reduce frustrations and increase optimism, which will further make you more likely to reach your goals. When you set your goals the right way your chances of success will as well increase.

  1. TEMPTATION TO EAT UNHEALTHY FOODS

Sometimes this temptation may come from those around you intentionally or unknowingly. Sometimes the urge to indulge in unhealthy foods may come within you. Remember these feelings are normal; therefore, they should not make you feel guilty.

Remember that you are in charge of your life. Just remain determined and focused, think of the results you want to achieve at the end. Try to stay clear of unhealthy foods and drinks.

  1. LACK SOMEONE TO MOTIVATE YOU

Most importantly, motivation should come from around and within you. But what do you do when you get a negative statement form those surrounding you?

Just know that the first person to benefit once you achieve your goals is yourself. So why not develop that positive outlook of yourself inside out, no matter what society or those around you looks and think about you. So develop a sense of motivation within you. Talking positively about yourself will greatly help you.

  1. EATING TOO MUCH

Yes, eating too much will definitely lead to weight gain more especially if the food is unhealthy and you are lacking physical activities. But, how do you deal with overeating?

Start slow and do not cut your shares so suddenly. Train yourself to eat from smaller plates and eventually you will find yourself eating smaller portions of food.

  1. HEALTHY FOODS ARE EXPENSIVE

Not only are health foods the most expensive but they are also difficulty to find as compared to unhealthy ones. Take for example fresh produce usually are seasonal foods. On the other hand, you can buy a park of fried chips anytime of the year. In addition, fruits and healthy juices are much more expensive compared to fizzy drinks, tea or coffee.

Develop a life were you can live within your budget and no matter what ensure that you budget for the healthy foods you can always afford. Take advantage of cheap seasonal foods. In addition, drink more water, which in most cases is a free commodity that does wonders on your weight loss journey.

  1. NOT EXERCISING

Lack of exercising is one common challenge you are likely to encounter in your weight loss journey. We all know how important exercising is to one losing weight. But most of the times you may just find that exercising becomes a challenge. This may be due to time limit or just the lack of interest to carry out exercises.

Exercises should not take your whole day. You may just need few minutes of exercise in order to help you achieve your weight loss goals. This may only be between 10 minutes to 1 hour each day. You can do exercises first thing on your to do list in the morning when you wake up. You can even do some of these exercises within your house and without any equipment.

  1. UNREALISTIC / GIVING YOURSELF TOO MUCH CREDIT

Giving yourself, too much credit may hinder you or may give you false hopes, which may later falsely indicate that you have achieved your goal.

Again, be realist in how much credit you give yourself. Do not overdo it otherwise you may relax and the time you realize you are back to zero.

  1. FAILING TO FOLLOW YOUR SET GOALS

Lack or failure to stick to your set goals is another challenge. This is one major obstacle to many people trying to lose weight.

Again, the rule here is to set achievable and realistic goals to motivate you.

  1. NO TIME

Not giving yourself more time to stick to a healthy lifestyle can have negative impacts on your journey. For example, lack of time to prepare health meals may force you to run to any food outlet and order any meal your eyes may deem great to taste. We all know the side effects of ‘fast foods’ on our health. Sometimes you may be too busy to exercise.

No matter how healthily you eat, without exercises you may slow down your chances of losing weight. Plan your day early in the morning, make sure you include your fitness plan within your day and make sure you follow it.

  1. EATING HEAVY MEALS BEFORE BEDTIME

Are you in the habit of eating meals just before you go to bed? Well, I have bad news for you. Experts indicate that eating food before you sleep may have devastating impacts on your health. Do not eat heavy meals 2-3 hours before going to bed. This is the simplest way to gain weight.

  1. WANT FAST RESULTS

Yes, we all want fast results. Supplements may give you fast results. However, you should understand that not all supplements are safe for you. E.g. if you are pregnant or if you are taking certain medications. Furthermore, you may need the guidance of qualified personnel, health personnel or a qualified dietitian before you can start using these substances. It is not surprising that all health experts will recommend eating a balanced diet before deciding to supplement your meals.

  1. NO CASH FOR GYM

Worried that you may not have cash for the gym. Yes, subscription for the gym may be expensive more especially if you are on a budget. In addition, gyms may be located far away, from where you are.

You need to understand that, there are so many exercises you can do at home for you to achieve weight loss success. In addition, these exercises do not require any equipment.
