Chandipur: 22 cases have been confirmed in the state

AHMEDABAD: The number of confirmed cases of Chandipora virus (CHPV) in Gujarat rose to 22 on Monday as the state health department sent the results of 55 samples to the National Institute of Virology (NIV).

In an official statement, the state government said that 16 out of 33 districts have reported infections.Gujarat has the highest death rate among the affected states, with sources indicating a positivity rate of around 40 percent.

Sabarkantha and Panchmahal have the highest number of cases with 3 cases each, followed by Alabali and Mehsana with 2 cases each, Mahisagar, Kedah, Surendra Nagar, IKA of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Jam Nagar, Morbi, Dahod with one case each, Vadodara, Banaskantha,  Dvibhumi and Dwarka and the coach

Four new cases were reported, bringing the total number of cases of acute encephalitis syndrome to 88.The state recorded the death of four patients, bringing the total death toll to 36.   Following are the three AES services in Ahmedabad, Arabili, Rajkot and Morbi districts.

State health department officials said a team of experts from the center arrived in Gujarat on Monday and could start the probe on Tuesday. The team will meet senior officials, visit affected areas and review treatment options to ensure low mortality and early detection of potential cases.

“Of all the patients, ten have recovered and been discharged from the hospital.

As of Monday, around 46 patients were under treatment, including two each in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

To date, more than 22,000 households in affected areas have been surveyed for sandfly infestation and colonization.

“Directions have been issued to control the disease and citizens have been asked to report suspected cases immediately,” a senior official said.
