12 suspected cases of viral encephalitis reported in Chandapura

Gandhinagar: Twelve suspected cases of viral encephalitis have been reported so far in Chandipur district of the state and people have been urged to take necessary precautions. He also said that six of the 12 patients were hospitalized.

He said six people were suspected to have died of the virus, but it could not be confirmed until samples were tested.

As of Monday, four suspected cases were from Sabarkantha, three from Aravalli and one each from Mahsagar and Hida districts, Patil said.

Two from Rajasthan and one from Madhya Pradesh in Gujarat have also been infected. The samples collected from the patients have been sent to a laboratory in Pune and the results will be available in 12 to 15 days, he added.
